Why people call me instead

Three things a Caldwell mobile notary should get right

Anybody can stamp a page. What you're really paying for is your afternoon back and paperwork that doesn't bounce.

You keep your whole afternoon

No taking half a day off. No driving to the bank and getting turned away because their notary went to lunch. You tell me where you'll be and when, and I show up there — the kitchen table, the office, the nursing home, or your driveway if that's easier.

Most Caldwell appointments booked same day.

It goes through the first time

Rejected fingerprints, a missing initial, a will signed without the right witnesses — every one of those costs you weeks. I check the whole package before I leave, roll prints that get accepted, and tell you straight if something's wrong instead of stamping it and driving off.

Wills, trusts, POAs and loan packages checked page by page.

You stop guessing what's next

Most people who call me about an apostille have no idea whether they need state or federal, or what has to be notarized first. That's normal — it's a confusing process. I'll tell you the order it goes in, what it costs, and roughly how long it takes before you pay me a dime.

Plain-English answers, no runaround.

My promise to you

If it isn't right, you don't pay for it.

I've done this 3,500 times. I'd rather eat a trip than have you stuck with paperwork that doesn't work.

  • The price I quote is the price you pay No fuel surcharge, no per-page surprise, no “extra document” fee once I'm sitting at your table.
  • You get me. Not a call center Every call, text and appointment is Jim. Nobody's routing you to a stranger who doesn't know your file.
  • If my notarization gets rejected because of my error, I fix it free Wrong wording, missing seal, bad certificate — if the mistake is mine, I come back and redo it at no charge.
  • I'll help you line up your witnesses Wills and trusts need them, and most people can't find two. That's my problem to solve, not yours.

“I've had the pleasure of using Jim for two house closings over the years.”

The most recent one was a mobile notary due to needing to close on a house in another state. Due to some timing obligations, our only available time to sign was at 630 in the morning on a Thursday. Jim was only given a 24 hour notice before and still promptly showed up for the 630am appt, making additional copies in case we messed up on something (which, of course, I did) and got all of the paper work overnighted to the lender for the next day. I couldn't happier with Jim's service.

“Jim was amazing! I had an urgent need for both an apostille and legalization of a passport at the Vietnam Embassy.”

I wasn't sure where to start and how to expedite the process, but Jim was fast, efficient, and got my documents to Washington D. C. and approved well before my deadline. Thank you Jim! :)

“I sure have enjoyed working with Jim and will recommend him to any of my compatriots that need this type of service.”

His was were very conscientious and honest. The work he did on my Apostille for Panama wasn't straight forward and had a couple of roadblocks that Jim negotiated perfectly.

Caldwell notary questions I get every week

Do you actually drive out to Caldwell?

Yes, and out past it — Wilder, Parma, Notus, Greenleaf, Homedale. Canyon County is a flat $95 travel fee, the same as if you were next door to me. There is no mileage charge and no rural surcharge.

If you're outside Ada or Canyon County entirely, I'll still come. I just quote you one flat number first so there are no surprises.

What does it cost?

Mobile notary work is $95 to come to you, plus $5 per notarized signature anywhere in Ada and Canyon County. Outside those two counties I'll quote a flat number before I go.

An Idaho apostille is $185 for the first document and $75 for each additional document on the same order. Fingerprinting starts at $125 plus $10 per FD-258 card. A full California background check is $349 all-inclusive for one applicant, and $299 for everyone after the first in a group.

I need documents apostilled for Mexico. Can you handle the translation too?

Yes — this is a big part of what I do, and it's the reason a lot of Canyon County families find me. Birth certificates, marriage certificates, powers of attorney, school records and property documents heading to Mexico all follow the same path: notarize where required, apostille through the Idaho Secretary of State, and translate where the receiving office requires it.

I arrange certified translation as part of the job rather than sending you to find a translator yourself. Tell me which Mexican state or office is asking for the document, because their requirements differ, and I'll tell you exactly what the finished package needs to look like.

Can you notarize a will, trust, or power of attorney?

Yes. I'm a notary for estate planning documents and I handle them constantly, including for attorneys who send me their client signings.

The thing that catches families out is witnesses. Wills usually need two, and they can't be beneficiaries — which rules out most of the people at the table. Mention it when you book and I'll arrange them. I don't draft documents or give legal advice; that's your attorney's job.

What if you get here and can't notarize it? Do I still pay?

If I can't finish because of something on my end, you don't pay. If it's because the signer has no valid unexpired ID, can't understand what they're signing, or the document was already signed before I arrived, then that's a real trip I made and the travel fee applies.

I'd much rather catch that on the phone than in your driveway. Tell me up front what ID the signer has. Thirty seconds on the phone saves us both a wasted afternoon.

How do I know you're legitimate?

Worth asking, especially in the apostille space where there are a lot of shaky operations. I'm Jim Allen, I own Idaho Mobile Notary Signing Agent, LLC out of the Treasure Valley, I've been a commissioned Idaho notary public since 2018, and I'm bonded, insured and background screened.

You can verify my commission with the Idaho Secretary of State, and every call comes to my phone. Never mail original documents — especially foreign birth certificates — to somebody you haven't actually spoken to. That goes for me as much as anybody.

Do I need a state apostille or a federal one?

Almost nobody knows this, and getting it wrong costs weeks. Documents issued in Idaho — birth certificates, marriage licences, anything I notarize — go through the Idaho Secretary of State. Documents issued by the federal government, like an FBI background check, go to the U.S. Department of State.

Tell me what the document is and which country wants it, and I'll tell you which track it belongs on before you spend a dollar.

I'm licensed in California but live in Canyon County. Can you do my fingerprints?

Yes, and it's the one that saves people the most grief. If you're licensed out of state, California usually tells you to travel there in person — or routes you to a mailed hard card that comes back rejected weeks later.

You don't need either. I capture your prints on my Live Scan system, then send them straight through to my California processor, who submits the background check. One appointment in Caldwell, no flight to California.

How fast can you get to Caldwell?

Most days, same day. Evenings and weekends included, because that's when most people can actually sit down and read what they're signing.

If it's urgent — a hospital, a hospice, a deadline in the morning — text me at (208) 826-1210 and I'll tell you right away whether I can make it.
